Compulsive Planner

There are some things in life that I don’t mind waiting for. Like birthdays, vacations, doing laundry, getting an oil change. But God forbid, if I have to wait for a phone call or wait for someone to come up with a date and/or time and place ~ I’ll have a kanipshion-fit!

I’m a detailed planner! A compulsive planner! If it comes to my schedule then it needs to be locked and in place. I don’t mind spur-of-the-moment things but it has to be a plan within a plan. For example…if I have plans with someone, we’re together, we change our minds and do something else…that’s no big deal. However, if I have plans and they are broken by the other party without some kind of advanced notification then I get real irritated, unless it’s because of an emergency then of course I understand! Come on…I’m “detail oriented” ~ not heartless!

My vacations are always planned out in advance, I guess that’s why I don’t mind waiting for them. I always know exactly where I’m going for sight-seeing, meals and entertainment for each day of my vacation. I love to plan that stuff out! There’s nothing worse than going to an unknown area and knowing absolutely nothing about it or not knowing my way around. Needless to say I love Google and Mapquest!

As for everyday plans, like weekend plans, I like to know in advance where I’m going and what time to be there. And I won’t stop bugging people until I get an answer either! What is up with that?

Sometimes I wonder if it’s because as a child growing up, living with 3 girls under one roof, we were always late! It was embarrassing sometimes and it was pretty much expected of us to be late, I hated that! But it’s not so much tardiness that irritates me as much as not knowing details. I am a freak of nature when it comes to wanting details! My franklin planner is with me at all times, I can even tell you what I’m doing 10 months from today’s date!

I don’t know if it’s because I tend to keep myself so damn busy and I’m forgetful without my plans and franklin planner, I don’t know if it’s just become a habit or if I have some kind of obsession with planning? Either way, at least you know I’ll be there when you schedule me! :)
